About Papa's...

Papa’s Nest {egg} Vintage Marketplace started about 4 years ago as a furniture, home décor, and gift shop in downtown Baldwin City.  Within that shop, we sold Dixie Belle paint and taught classes on painting furniture, transforming kitchen cabinets, and a variety of craft/sign classes.

About a year ago we decided to close that shop and move into a couple of different “booth” locations within antique malls, one in Kansas City and the other in Baldwin City.  As we’ve downsized, we’ve both learned a lot about the parts of our business we love and the parts we’re not so crazy about, so the evolution continues!

Our favorite part of this business is the Dixie Belle paint products we sell, the classes we teach, and the customers we meet and get to know along the way.

As of February 8th, 2021, we will have one location inside Antiques on the Prairie, located at 520 High St. in downtown Baldwin City, KS.  At that location, we will do what we enjoy most and continue to sell Dixie Belle paints – but in a much bigger way!  We’re now carrying the entire Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint line, as well as the brand-new Silk Mineral Paint line at Antiques on the Prairie.  That qualifies us for the coveted “Elite” status with Dixie Belle, and it means that we will have all the products you need when you need them – every time!

I will continue to teach classes at various locations in and around Baldwin City.  You can learn about those classes on this webpage, on our Facebook and Instagram pages (located in the "Contact Us" section at the bottom), and in our private  “Creating With Papa’s”  Facebook Group.  You will want to join this group because classes will be posted here first for those of you who call yourselves “creators”; you’ll have access to coupons no one else will even know about; and I’ll post exclusive product tutorials in this group.  Click here to sign up now!

It is our goal to be your “go-to” shop for furniture and craft paints, and DIY needs such as décor transfers, decoupage papers, rice paper, moulds, brushes, décor stamps, and inks.  Please let us know if there are products you would like us to add to our selection or a product line you’d like us to carry.

While we’ll be painting less furniture to sell, we will continue to do custom projects for our customers, so please let us know if you have a piece you would like us to custom paint for you.  Just remember – we can also teach you how to do it yourself!

When you visit our booth space at Antiques on the Prairie, you’ll notice a Ring Doorbell on our paint display.  That doorbell is for you to use whenever you have a question about a product, if you don’t see what you’re looking for, or if you’re needing some instruction on a project or just some color advice.  Push our button, and one of us should answer you within a ring or two to provide the help you need.  If we don’t respond, we’re out of cell range for some reason, so please call (785) 594-1420 to leave us a message ,and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

We look forward to painting with you!
